Pomeroy Pool
The Pomeroy Aquatics program is centered around the Herbst Therapeutic Pool, which opened in 1984. The pool is a salt-based, warm water pool (92 degrees) and is one of the only therapeutic pools in San Francisco. The pool serves our Adult Day program participants, our after-school program, and the greater community of adults that can benefit from warm water therapy.

Programs
Therapeutic exercise and swim lessons are offered to community members aged six months through adult as well as for participants enrolled at Pomeroy. Staff is certified in Lifeguarding and CPR-FPR (CPR for the Professional Rescuer).
We offer various therapeutic swimming programs for individuals seeking aquatic therapy or gentle aquatic exercise. Ideal for seniors or those with limited mobility. We offer lap swim, open swim, and instructor-led classes.
The Herbst Therapeutic Pool at Pomeroy serves nearly 2,000 people per month with its full calendar of group classes, swim lessons, and recreational and therapeutic swim times. Heated to 92 degrees, Pomeroy’s pool is the only publicly accessible warm, saltwater-based pool in a 40-mile radius.

When are you offering adult swim lessons?
We are no longer offering adult swim lessons this time. We hope to bring these lessons back one day when staffing and COVID restrictions allow.
When does the locker room close?
The locker room closes 30 min after the last program. If you need a little bit more time to change, please ensure you end your session accordingly.
Is there a waitlist for swim lessons?
Enrollment in our swim lessons is based on a lottery system each session.
Is the pool open year-round?
The pool typically closes for yearly maintenance at the end of December. The pool is closed this year from December 12, 2022, to January 13, 2023, because we are remodeling the men’s locker rooms.
